Phoenix House Groundbreaking Ceremony

There is a saying “The more things change, the more they stay the same” – and I think that saying is fitting for this occasion. These words ring out from Deputy Commissioner of Housing Carmen Chubb’s remarks at the March 3, 2017, groundbreaking ceremony.

As we celebrated on a cold, windy morning, we heard from Scott Kline, Vice President of National Housing Trust; Councilmember Joyce Shepherd; Cathryn Marchman, Executive Director of Partners for Home; and others.

To continue with more of Ms. Chubb’s remarks:

“The buildings around us – they will change. The support and services provided to the residents by Community Friendship will not change – and will greatly expand with a partnership with Mercy Care and project-based vouchers from the Atlanta Housing Authority. And while the name of this organization has changed, the commitment, determination, tenacity, passion and complete refusal to take “no” for an answer of Darlene Schultz and 3Keys, has not changed one bit.”

Save the date of January 18, 2018, for a grand re-opening ceremony at Phoenix House.
