Kettering Executive Network Hosts Coat Drive to Benefit 3Keys Residents Transitioning Out of Homelessness in Atlanta
In the spirit of the holiday season, Kettering invited The 3Keys to their December Women’s Special Interest Group event: “Hope and Happiness” Bourbon Tasting and Coat Drive. The organization, which fosters executive networking, encouraged members to donate coats to give to our residents.
For those transitioning from homelessness to stable housing during the winter months, a warm coat is essential. Often, individuals only have the clothing and items they are carrying with them.
Philip Whatley, 3Keys Director of Development, spoke at Kettering’s event on December 16, sharing more about the work we do in the Atlanta community.
The 3Keys is grateful for the partnership of organizations like Kettering. Every contribution counts as we provide housing, help, and hope to the most vulnerable in our community. We’re proud to be a part of the network of affordable housing providers in Atlanta serving those experiencing homelessness.
Often described by other providers as “hard to serve,” our residents typically face dual diagnoses of mental illness and substance use disorders, developmental disabilities, and/or HIV/AIDS. Arriving with little to no income, residents come from hospitals, behavioral health institutions, emergency shelters, correctional facilities, the streets, or other locations not equipped for secure, longer-term living. Our programming combines shelter, support and services at each of our six housing complexes in metro Atlanta. This enables our residents to maintain their dignity, restore their stability and self-sufficiency, and receive treatment for their mental illness and any other disabling conditions.
